A Day of Reflection and Cultural Exchange: Algerian Embassy Marks 70th National Day in Islamabad
Islamabad - 2 November 2024 (Adnan Hameed) : The Algerian Embassy in Islamabad held a commemorative event to celebrate 70 years of Algeria's independence. The occasion honored the nation’s enduring struggle for freedom and highlighted its development since achieving sovereignty. Attendees included diplomats, government officials, and representatives from various fields, who expressed support and admiration for Algeria’s journey and accomplishments.
The event officially began with the national anthems of Algeria and Pakistan, symbolizing the strong ties between the two nations. Following the anthems, a commemorative cake adorned with the flags of both countries was ceremoniously cut by Algerian Ambassador Romani, the Chief Guest Minister of State for Information Technology and Telecom - Shaza Fatima, Senator - Mushahid Hussain Syed, Maen Khreasat - Ambassador of Jordan, Dr Ramez Alraee - Ambassador of Syria, Nawaf Saeed Al-Maliki - Ambassador of Saudi Arabia and other distinguished attendees, marking the significance of the occasion.
Addressing to the gathering, Algerian Ambassador to Pakistan Dr, Brahim Romani shared reflections on the resilience of the Algerian people and their sacrifices during the fight for independence.
Romani also touched on the progress Algeria has made over the past decades and emphasized the importance of fostering ties between Algeria and Pakistan.
The event provided a platform for cultural exchange and dialogue, strengthening the longstanding relationship between the two nations. Attendees observed a moment of remembrance for those who contributed to Algeria's independence, while traditional Algerian music and food were shared to honor the country’s heritage.
The embassy reaffirmed its dedication to enhancing cooperation between Algeria and Pakistan in areas such as trade, education, and cultural exchanges. This independence celebration served as a testament to the enduring unity and partnership between the two countries.
