Embassy of Germany Hosts Event Celebrating Reunification and Strong Bilateral Relations with Pakistan

Islamabad - 1 November 2024 (Adnan Hameed) : German Unity Day was commemorated in Islamabad by the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany. This significant day celebrates the historic reunification of East and West Germany on October 3, 1990, which concluded 41 years of separation and brought Germans together as a unified nation. In his address, Alfred Grannas, the German Ambassador, underscored the historical significance of German reunification, highlighting the remarkable achievements and progress made since that pivotal moment. He also underscored decades long cooperation of the past and hoped for improved relations for decades to come. At a distinguished event hosted by the German Embassy, guests from Pakistan and the international community came together. The participants included representatives of German businesses, foundations, and organizations operating in Pakistan, along with dignitaries, senior officials, and leaders from diplomatic, military, political, economic, humanitarian, and media sectors. The event illustrated the strong bonds connecting Germany and Pakistan. Federal Minister for Energy, Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari speaking as chief guest said that this year’s theme reflected the spirit of unity, forward looking optimism, symbolising Germany’s commitment to collective progress and togetherness as a nation. “It is imperative that Pakistan and Germany move forward in economic and commercial domain by creating people to people contacts,” he said emphasizing on the passionate belief in the positive friendship and cooperation between the two countries. Soz o Saaz, a talented band of young musicians, added magic to the evening with their enchanting and expressive instrumental performances, creating a truly memorable cultural experience.
