PMAS-AAUR Hosts First-Ever Chinese Postgraduate Training Program on Smart Agriculture Technologies Rawalpindi - 27 March 2025 (Nasir Abbas) : In a historic milestone for Pakistan, the first-ever batch of five Chinese postgraduate students from Northwest Agriculture and Forestry University (NWAFU) in Yangling, China, successfully completed a six-week capacity-building program at Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi (PMAS-AAUR) on Wednesday. The program, focused on Smart Agriculture Technologies, covered advanced topics such as UAV applications, Precision Agriculture, Digital Farming Systems, and IoT-based Smart Farming solutions. Running from February 9, 2025 to March 26, 2025, the initiative was organized under the Sino-Pak Bio-Health Agriculture Overseas Science and Technology Demonstration Park partnership. PMAS-AAUR Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Qamar Uz Zaman welcomed the delegation and lauded the collaboration. In his remarks, he emphasized the transformative role of international academic partnerships in driving innovation and research excellence. “Such cross-border collaborations are vital to addressing global agricultural challenges and fostering knowledge exchange,” he stated. Prof. Zaman extended gratitude to NWAFU and Prof. Dr. Zhang Lixin for their pivotal support in facilitating the program. The participating students praised PMAS-AAUR’s faculty for their expertise and mentorship, noting that the training would significantly enhance their ongoing research projects. “The hands-on experience and theoretical insights gained here will undoubtedly refine our work in smart agriculture,” remarked one participant.
