King Mohammed VI’s Silver Jubilee Celebrated at Moroccan Embassy in Islamabad

Islamabad - 2 August 2024 (Adnan Hameed): The Embassy of Morocco in Pakistan marked the 25th anniversary of King Mohammed VI’s accession to the throne with a grand reception, celebrating the Moroccan monarch’s enduring leadership and the significant transformations Morocco has witnessed under his rule. The event underscored the strong bilateral ties between Morocco and Pakistan. The Federal Minister for Petroleum, Dr. Musadik Malik, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, reflecting the robust relationship between the two nations. In his address, Dr. Malik praised the leadership of King Mohammed VI and the remarkable progress Morocco has achieved under his reign. The Moroccan Ambassador to Pakistan, Mohamed Karmoune, delivered a keynote address emphasizing the significance of this milestone anniversary. Ambassador Karmoune highlighted the achievements and progress made under King Mohammed VI’s leadership while acknowledging the challenges ahead in the pursuit of a modern and prosperous state. “Today, we celebrate a quarter-century of progress and development under the wise and visionary leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI,” said Ambassador Karmoune. “This anniversary is not only a testament to the bond between the Moroccan people and their King but also an opportunity to reinforce our commitment to a brighter and more prosperous future.” Under King Mohammed VI’s leadership, Morocco has undergone significant political transformation, particularly with the adoption of a major constitutional reform in 2011 aimed at enhancing the efficiency of political institutions. The country’s GDP has tripled, driven by numerous mega-projects in infrastructure, renewable energy, and transportation. Morocco has become a leading African hub for the automotive and aerospace industries, attracting approximately $37.5 billion in foreign direct investment from 2007 to 2023. Significant strides have also been made in social protection, with 3.8 million families receiving state social income and 23 million Moroccans benefiting from mandatory health insurance. Morocco continues to enhance medical care and services, ensuring a robust safety net for its citizens. Ambassador Karmoune also highlighted the Atlantic Initiative, a transformative project launched by King Mohammed VI aimed at connecting Sahelian countries like Burkina Faso, Niger, Chad, and Mali to the Atlantic Ocean, promoting economic integration and regional development. The event concluded with a reaffirmation of the strong ties between Morocco and Pakistan, and a commitment to furthering mutual cooperation and development.
