Global Engagement: German Delegation Explores Pakistani Parliament Functions

Islamabad - 20 May 2024 (Adnan Hameed) : A 20-member delegation from Global Bridges, a non-profit organization based in the Federal Republic of Germany, delved into Pakistan's parliamentary intricacies today during a visit to Parliament House, Islamabad. Led by Dr. Hans Albrecht, the delegation consisted of German entrepreneurs, academics, intellectuals, doctors, and other professionals. Their mission was to gain firsthand insight into Pakistan's parliamentary operations. The delegation received an in-depth briefing from Special Secretary (Special Initiatives) Syed Shamoon Hashmi on Pakistan's parliamentary system, covering its functions and history. The session included discussions on the National Assembly's operations, standing committees, and specialized parliamentary forums, such as the Sustainable Development Goals, Women Parliamentary Caucus, Young Parliamentary Forum, and Parliamentary Caucus on Child Rights. The delegation engaged enthusiastically during a Q&A session following the presentation. In addition to the informative session, the delegation toured the National Assembly Hall and other areas of Parliament House, expressing appreciation for the pictorial display showcasing Pakistan's political and parliamentary history.
