Pakistani Writers Advocate for Palestinian Rights through Literature

Islamabad - (Adnan Hameed) : A cadre of Pakistani writers has voiced their support for the rights of Palestinians, shedding light on the injustices they endure through their eloquent poetry and prose. The literary output stemming from this cause is of international caliber and deserves compilation and publication, as emphasized by Dr. Inam Haq Javed during a literary session hosted by Idra Adab -O- Saqafat, where he presided. Prominent figures including writers and journalists, such as Professor Maqsood Jafari, Hafeez Khan, Tariq Khurshid, Basharat Ali Syed, Akbar Hussain Akbar, Khalid Azim, Anees Ahmed, Adeel Raza, Tariq Hashmi, Bilal Dar, Saeeda Tariq, and Owais Jan, actively participated in the session. Dr. Inamul Haque Javed expressed concern about the current state of Islamabad's literary ambiance, noting a shift from the richness it possessed in the 80s. He observed an increase in bureaucratic tendencies within academic literary institutions and a waning focus on innovative literary works. He lamented the decline of Islamabad's literary traditions, with only a select few authors gracing literary events. He highlighted the transient nature of poets who emerged during that era and emphasized the importance of a sharp consciousness and a lively conscience for real poets. Professor Maqsood Jafari underscored the role of poets as preachers and advocates for peace, urging them to be the trustees of humanity and to address the pressing issues of the day, particularly advocating for peace in Palestine. President of Idra Adab -O- Saqafat, Tariq Shahid, extended his gratitude to the participants for their engagement in this important literary endeavor.
