Pakistan-US Relations: US Ambassador and Minister Focus on Trade and Infrastructure Development

Islamabad - 20 July 2024 (Adnan Hameed): The Federal Minister for Privatization, Board of Investment, and Communications, Abdul Aleem Khan, welcomed the Ambassador of the United States of America to Pakistan, H.E. Donald Bloom, for a detailed discussion on various bilateral issues, including enhancing Pakistan-US relations and exploring investment opportunities in Pakistan. During the meeting, Minister Abdul Aleem Khan emphasized his commitment to fostering stronger business relations between Pakistan and the United States. He highlighted the challenges faced by the Pakistani economy, noting that these also present numerous opportunities for investment. He assured that the American business community is welcome to invest in Pakistan and will receive all possible support and facilities to ensure a smooth investment process. The Minister acknowledged the significant contribution of the Pakistani diaspora in the United States, which generates substantial foreign exchange crucial for Pakistan's national exchequer. Additionally, he announced plans to upgrade highways and motorways to align Pakistan's transportation infrastructure with that of developed countries. Ambassador Donald Bloom reiterated the interest of American business groups in investing in Pakistan, discussing various possibilities for collaboration. Both Minister Abdul Aleem Khan and Ambassador Bloom expressed their mutual best wishes and optimism for the future, hoping that the friendly relations between Pakistan and the USA will continue to grow stronger.
