Pakistan and Iraq Forge Deeper Ties, Discuss Trade, and Stand United on Palestine

Islamabad - (Adnan Hameed): The discussions encompassed bilateral relations and mutual concerns, with a focus on the current situation in Palestine. Chairman Senate emphasized that the enduring ties between Pakistan and Iraq are rooted in religion, brotherhood, Islamic culture, and mutual respect, reflecting shared values. Pakistan holds deep significance in its longstanding brotherly relations with Iraq. The meeting delved into a comprehensive dialogue on enhancing bilateral trade, highlighting the need for expanded direct air links between Pakistan and Iraq. Chairman Senate commended the resilience of the Iraqi nation in overcoming challenges. During the discussions, the plight of Palestine took center stage, with Chairman Senate advocating for international intervention to compel Israel to cease the genocide of innocent Palestinians, lift the siege on Gaza promptly, and facilitate the unimpeded supply of food and medicine. Ambassador Hamid Abbas Lafta expressed Iraq's appreciation for its amicable ties with Pakistan and underscored the necessity of broadening economic and trade relations. He acknowledged the valuable contributions of Pakistani expatriates in Iraq and assured them of comprehensive support. The Iraqi Ambassador also lauded Pakistan's efforts towards fostering unity within the Islamic world. Secretary Senate Mohammad Qasim Samad Khan was also present during the meeting.
