Islamabad - 15 May 2024 (Adnan Hameed) : The Ambassador Emin Cohodarevic of Bosnia and Herzegovina recently convened with President Asif Ali Zardari at Aiwan-e-Sadr, Islamabad, for crucial discussions aimed at fortifying the longstanding ties between the two nations. President Zardari emphasized the necessity of nurturing robust business and trade connections with Bosnia and Herzegovina, advocating for initiatives such as the establishment of banking facilities, conducting trade in local currencies, and fostering barter trade to enhance economic cooperation. During the meeting, Ambassador Cohodarevic sought Pakistan’s support for Bosnia and Herzegovina’s draft resolution on the Srebrenica tragedy in the United Nations General Assembly. President Zardari assured favorable consideration of Bosnia’s request, reaffirming Pakistan’s unwavering solidarity with the victims of the tragic events in Srebrenica in 1995. Emphasizing the historical and friendly relations spanning nearly three decades between Pakistan and Bosnia & Herzegovina, President Zardari underscored the significance of continued bilateral engagements to explore avenues of cooperation in various fields of mutual interest. Ambassador Cohodarevic expressed his country's eagerness to deepen ties with Pakistan in the realms of economy, security, and culture. He highlighted significant opportunities for Pakistani businesses in diverse sectors in Bosnia & Herzegovina, including food, tourism, and textile industries. Furthermore, the ambassador extended gratitude to the government and people of Pakistan for their steadfast support to Bosnia & Herzegovina during the conflicts in the 1990s. He extended an invitation to President Zardari to visit Bosnia and Herzegovina, aiming to fortify economic cooperation between the two nations.
