Islamabad - (Adnan Hameed): The Russian Embassy in Pakistan held a reception to celebrate the National Day of Russia in a local hotel of Islamabad on 12 June 2023. The reception was attended by the Ambassador of Russia to Pakistan H.E. Eminent guests included President of the Centre for Pakistan and Gulf Studies Ms. Sehar Kamran and Honorary Consul General of Russia in Peshawar Mr. Muhammad Arsallah Khan. The Chief Guest of the reception was H.E. Mr. Azam Nazeer Tarar, the Federal Minister for Law and Justice of Pakistan. H.E Danila Ganich, Ambassador of the Russian Federation said during his opening remarks that in this difficult time Pakistan need Russia and Russia need Pakistan. He also expressed his country’s desire to expand trade relations with Pakistan. “Today Russia’s national day is being celebrated not only in Russia but also in Pakistan,” he said, adding, “Today, on this auspicious day, I also felicitate the people of Pakistan. Ganich also showed his country’s willingness to make both Pakistan and India sit at the negotiating table for the resolution of Kashmir issue. During the reception, Russian Ambassador to Pakistan Danila Ganich awarded a recognition certificate to Mr. Muhammad Arsallah Khan for facilitating the rescue of a Russian climber Alexander Gukov in 2018. The chief guest of the evening, Federal Minister for Law and Justice Senator Azam Nazir Tarar said that the start of freight shipping between Russia and Pakistan and the arrival of Russian oil yesterday was a great step. The minister expressed these views while addressing the National Day of Russia. He said that Pakistan valued relations with Russia and Russian cooperation. There was great scope for mutual investment, economic development and new employment opportunities between the two countries, he added. He said that ways of cooperation between Pakistan and Russia in various fields had started to open. The arrival of Russian oil in Pakistan was the beginning of a new era of cooperation between the two countries, he added. He further said that Pakistan was a very favorable and attractive country for Russian investors. There was scope for extensive cooperation with Russia in trade, economy, security, defense, counter-terrorism, education, culture and other fields, he added. The federal minister said that the relationship between the two countries span a long period of time. “Our mutual relations have matured over time to meet the demands of a changing world and these friendly relations between the two countries will set new paths for common goals,”. On his concluding remarks, Azam also prayed that the friendship between the two countries may be sustainable and further developed to reach new heights and Pak-Russia friendship may prove to be a practical model for the promotion of peace and security in the region and the world. The reception also featured a photo exhibition of the finest collection of art works by famous Russian painters. The reception was concluded with the lavish dinner.
