Strengthening Digital Ties: Pakistan and Uzbekistan Discuss IT Collaboration

Islamabad - 5 September 2024 (Adnan Hameed) : Minister of State for IT and Telecommunications, Ms. Shiza Fatima Khwaja, held a productive meeting with the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Pakistan, Aybek Arif Usmanov, on Wednesday to discuss advancing bilateral cooperation in the IT and telecommunications sectors. During the discussion, both sides emphasized the growing importance of enhancing collaboration in these fields to drive technological growth and innovation. Ms. Shiza Fatima Khwaja underscored the longstanding partnership between Pakistan and Uzbekistan, expressing that mutual cooperation in the IT sector holds immense potential for both countries. "Pakistan highly values its strong ties with Uzbekistan, and by fostering collaboration in technology, we can share valuable knowledge and experiences that will be mutually beneficial," Ms. Khwaja noted. Ambassador Usmanov shared Uzbekistan’s keen interest in deepening relations with Pakistan in the digital arena. He proposed the formation of a joint working group involving Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Digital Technologies and Pakistan’s Ministry of IT and Telecommunications. Additionally, the Ambassador suggested launching a startup exchange program to encourage innovation and entrepreneurial growth between the two nations. The meeting concluded with both sides reaffirming their commitment to pursue closer cooperation in the IT and telecommunications sectors, fostering greater innovation and technological progress.
