The lecture, attended by a diverse audience, delved into the imperative for nations to prioritize economic development over conflicts in the contemporary era. Khattak underscored the significance of the recent visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping to the US, emphasizing that the focus on economic prowess is indicative of a future where nations strive for superiority through development rather than warfare. Drawing parallels to the burgeoning relationship between China and the US, Khattak highlighted the absence of war as a testament to the nations' commitment to proving their supremacy through economic advancements. As the Program and Communication Director at the Center of Community Media, Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism, City University of New York, Khattak provided insights into the evolving dynamics between Pakistan and China. Addressing Pakistan's relationship with China and the US, Khattak emphasized the independence of Pakistan's foreign policy decisions. He stated, "Pakistan needs to look at its own interests, maintaining friendships with both China and America on the basis of equality. While America remains a strategic partner, China's role in Pakistan's economic development is indispensable." Khattak concluded by highlighting the pivotal role of peace in driving economic development in Pakistan. He urged Pakistani leaders and security agencies to prioritize the establishment of peace as a precursor to sustained economic growth.
