Islamabad - (Adnan Hameed) – Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Human Rights and Women Empowerment, Mushaal Hussein Mullick, addressed a gathering at a media and civil society awareness campaign organized by the Pakistan National Heart Association (PANAH). In her capacity as the Chief Guest, Mushaal declared health as a basic right for all individuals and emphasized the crucial link between mental and physical health to healthy dietary choices and lifestyle. The event witnessed the presence of esteemed personalities including Surgeon General (Rtd.) Kamal Akbar, Sabien Hussein Mullick (Focal Person to SAPM), Sanaullah Ghumman (Secretary General PANAH), Munawar Hussain (Advocacy consultant), Abid Abbassi (President Rawalpindi/Islamabad Union of Journalists), and other notable figures from the media and civil society. Mushaal expressed deep concern about Pakistan's ranking as the third country globally for diabetes cases, urging individuals not to take their health for granted. She highlighted the importance of adopting proper dietary habits and regular physical exercise as effective preventive measures against various diseases. Advocating for increased awareness among mothers about their children's diets, Mushaal underscored the significant impact on the health of future generations. She called for the inclusion of schools and colleges in awareness campaigns, recognizing educational institutions as crucial in shaping children's dietary habits. Drawing attention to the health risks associated with excessive sugar and salt consumption, Mushaal labeled them as "white poisons." She stressed the need for a collective effort to address these risks and offered her support to initiatives focused on preventing diseases stemming from unhealthy dietary practices. Mushaal extended an invitation to PANAH and the media for collaboration in the implementation of a 100-day plan initiated by the Ministry of Human Rights. She emphasized the recognition of health and access to healthcare facilities as fundamental rights for all individuals. Congratulating PANAH for organizing the awareness session, Mushaal acknowledged the organization's impactful work not only in Pakistan but also in Afghanistan and Turkey. She expressed gratitude to the dedicated media workers for their unwavering support in promoting the cause of a healthy diet and disease prevention.
