Russian Embassy in Islamabad Marks Defender of the Fatherland Day with Grand Celebration

Islamabad - 22 February 2024 (Adnan Hameed): In a splendid ceremony, the Russian Embassy in Islamabad commemorated Defender of the Fatherland Day, expressing gratitude for the dedicated service of the Russian armed forces. Air Vice Marshal Abid Latif from the Pakistan Air Force was honored as the Chief Guest at this notable event. The celebration commenced with the resonating national anthems of both Russia and Pakistan, symbolizing the deep and enduring ties between the two nations. Ambassador Albert P Khorev, joined by Defence Attache Colonel Vadim N. Fenchenko and Chief Guest Air Vice Marshal Abid Latif, led the ceremonial cake-cutting adorned with images of the Russian and Pakistani flags. Colonel Vadim N. Fenchenko, the Russian Defence Attache, warmly welcomed the diverse assembly, acknowledging the sacrifices made by Russian Forces for the safety and stability of Russia. He underscored the pivotal role played by Russian Defenders in safeguarding the nation. He said, On the 23rd of February, the Russian people celebrate defender of the fatherland day. Defender of the fatherland day was held in 1919 as the anniversary of the creation of the Red Army, in 1923 it was officially established as Red Army and Navy Day, in 1946 it was renamed Soviet Army and Navy Day. This National holiday epitomizes the heroic history of our Army and Navy and the unbreakable link connecting all generations of defenders of the Fatherland. On this day, deep respect and the warmest word's go to our veterans who defeated Nazism and upheld the freedom and independence of Fatherland. The Current Generation of Russian soldiers and officers preserves and enhances the military traditions of their grandfathers and great-grandfathers. Our troops are historically fighting the neo-Nazism that has taken root in Ukraine, protecting our people in our historical lands and are fighting courageously and heroically. No doubt, the goals of the Special Military Operation will be achieved. The Russian Defence Attache concluded his saying, "Victory will be with us!". The event drew a significant gathering of Ambassadors, defence attaches, and media personnel, creating a vibrant atmosphere. The evening concluded with valuable networking opportunities, fostering connections among the esteemed attendees.
