PCAA, UKDfT Hold Threat Image Recognition Training at Islamabad International Airport

Islamabad - 27 April 2024 (Adnan Hameed) : Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority achieves another significant milestone with the support of the UK Department for Transport. The certificate awarding ceremony for Threat Image Recognition Computer Based Training (CBT) was attended by Dr. Joe Whittle, Head of Security and Justice, British High Commission in Pakistan as the esteemed Guest of Honor. The ceremony was also attended by Mr. Junaid Jalil, DDG NNDA of Pakistan Customs and Syed Aftab Gillani, COO / Airport Manager Islamabad International Airport. The training, facilitated by the UK DfT, provided participants with essential tools and knowledge to excel as X-Ray Screening Certification Auditors. Leveraging state-of-the-art hardware and software support, generously provided by the UK DfT, participants were equipped to enhance their screening capabilities and elevate security standards within the aviation industry. This collaborative effort between Pakistan and the United Kingdom is a testament to the enduring partnership and mutual respect shared between the two countries. The close liaison between the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA) and the UK DfT has been instrumental in facilitating this ground breaking training initiative. Participants of the X-Ray Screening CBT Auditor course comprised primarily of AVSEC Regulatory Officers and Inspectors, while representatives from other entities such as Pakistan Customs, Airport Security Force, Pakistan International Airlines and Karsaz also attended the training program. Air Cdre (R) Shahid Qadir, Director Aviation Security PCAA extended heartfelt gratitude to the UK Department for Transport for their unwavering support and commitment to advancing aviation security. This collaborative endeavor marks a significant step forward in ongoing efforts to ensure the safety and security of national aviation infrastructure.
