Pakistan and Kazakhstan Strengthen Ties for Climate Resilience and Sustainability

Islamabad - 2 August 2024 (Adnan Hameed): Pakistan and Kazakhstan have agreed to collaborate on addressing climate risks and environmental challenges. During a meeting between Romina Khurshid Alam, Coordinator to the Prime Minister on Climate Change, and Kazakhstani Ambassador Yerzhan Kistafin, both parties committed to working together on issues like energy, air pollution, and water scarcity. Kazakhstan pledged technical and financial support to Pakistan for building climate resilience, promoting eco-tourism, and enhancing renewable energy. Romina Khurshid Alam highlighted the vulnerabilities of the Central Asia region to climate change, including rising temperatures and shrinking glaciers. She emphasized the need for a regional approach to tackle shared environmental challenges. Ambassador Kistafin expressed his country's readiness to collaborate not only bilaterally but also with other Central Asian nations to address these issues. This partnership aims to strengthen regional climate resilience and promote sustainable practices.
