Leading Experts Convene in Islamabad for OICCI and Shell Pakistan’s Energy Symposium

Islamabad - 22 May, 2024 (Adnan Hameed) : The Overseas Investors Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OICCI), in collaboration with Shell Pakistan Limited, successfully hosted the Pakistan Energy Symposium. The event, produced by the Nutshell Group, convened at a local hotel, attracting leading stakeholders, policymakers, and industry specialists to deliberate on charting Pakistan’s sustainable energy future. Senator Dr. Musadik Malik, Federal Minister for Petroleum & Water Resources, emphasized the potential of renewable energy sources in Pakistan's energy mix, citing advancements in solar and wind technology. Rehan Shaikh, President and CEO of Standard Chartered Pakistan & President of OICCI, highlighted the importance of transitioning to a sustainable energy mix, leveraging Pakistan's abundant natural resources. Waqar Siddiqui, CEO & Managing Director of Shell Pakistan Limited, underscored the urgent need for action to achieve sustainability and proposed partnerships to shape Pakistan's energy future. Rabia Shoaib Ahmad, Director & CEO of the Nutshell Group, emphasized the importance of innovation and partnerships in creating a resilient energy sector. Syed Moonis Abdullah Alvi, CEO of K-Electric, discussed opportunities in Pakistan's energy sector, focusing on renewable energy initiatives. Dr. Nazir Abbas Zaidi, Secretary General of the Oil Companies Advisory Council, and Mazhar Hasnani, CEO of Engro Vopak & Engro Elengy Terminals Limited, presented recommendations for addressing structural issues and harnessing LNG for economic progress. The symposium included panel discussions on the opportunities in the oil & gas sector and Pakistan's power sector, moderated by industry experts from Shell Pakistan Limited. The event concluded with M Abdul Aleem, Secretary General of OICCI, expressing gratitude to all participants for their contributions and commitment to shaping Pakistan's sustainable energy future.
