Islamabad: (Adnan hameed): Speaker National Assembly Raja Pervez Ashraf has said that imagining development without women inclusion in every segment of society is impossible. He also said that women Parliamentarians have been proactive especially in legislative matters. He also said that Pakistani women parliamentarians and Pakistani women Journalists have been proactive to bring positive change. He expressed these views while addressing "The Women Parliamentarians in Strengthening Democracy " at National Press Club organized by Women Parliamentary Cacus in National Press Club Islamabad today. while paying tribute to contribution of women Parliamentarians, he said that our women have potential to change the fate of country. He said that he has been blessed that Shaheed Mohtrama Benazir Bhuttoo has been his political mentor. He also said that the role of Media has been crucial to further the cause of democracy in Pakistan. Secretary WPC Ms.Shahida Rehmani appreciated cooperation extended by Speaker National Assembly Raja Pervez Ashraf for proactive WPC. She said that the prominent achievements of WPC in such a short time includes: prioritizing gender budgeting and furthering women friendly legislation. Ms.Mehnaz Akbar Aziz Convener 1st Parliamentary Cacus on Child Rights also berified the participants regarding achievements of PCCR in such a short time. Mr.Afzal Butt President PFUJ said that this has been historic Parliament which reclaimed its supremacy. He said that it has been possible due to political farsightedness of Speaker National Assembly Raja Pervez Ashraf. He said that it is first time that Parliament has regained its lost supremacy. He also said that PFUJ has given equal status to women journalist and women media Representatives. The event was attended by women parliamentarians and prominent women journalists from across the country.
