Bastille Day, or “le Quatorze Juillet” in French, commemorates the storming of the Bastille prison on July 14, 1789, a pivotal event in the French Revolution that symbolizes the fight against oppression and the dawn of a republic founded on liberty, equality, and fraternity. This historic day is marked with nationwide festivities in France, including the renowned military parade on the Champs-Élysées in Paris. At the reception, Ambassador Galey and Pakistan’s Minister for Privatization, Investment Board, and Communications, Aleem Khan, underscored their commitment to strengthening the bilateral ties between France and Pakistan. Minister Aleem Khan, serving as the chief guest, highlighted the importance of robust economic and trade relations between the two nations. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s dedication to working closely with France to explore new avenues of collaboration, especially in trade, education, and technology. “The friendship between Pakistan and France is not only based on cultural ties but also on economic cooperation. We are committed to expanding our trade relations and exploring new opportunities for collaboration,” stated Minister Khan. Both officials acknowledged the significant contributions of the Pakistani community in France and the French community in Pakistan, recognizing their vital role in bridging cultural and social gaps. They also discussed potential initiatives to further enhance people-to-people contacts and promote cultural and academic exchanges, such as student exchange programs, joint cultural festivals, and collaborative research projects. The event, attended by numerous diplomats, politicians, and journalists, was a reflection of the importance of the occasion and the strong ties between the two nations. Both Ambassador Galey and Minister Khan expressed optimism about the future of Pakistan-France relations, emphasizing the need for continuous dialogue and cooperation.
