Islamabad, 13 November 2023 (Adnan Hameed) : — In a compelling address at the "Dosti Park Club" themed event on Chinese modernization and diplomacy, Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan, Jiang Zaidong, underscored the profound influence of Chinese organizational practices on the development trajectory of emerging nations. Emphasizing the role of these practices in fostering confidence and optimism, Ambassador Zaidong spoke to the shared future aspirations of developing countries. Reflecting on President Xi Jinping's groundbreaking eight-step plan revealed during the Belt and Road Forum, Ambassador Zaidong highlighted the array of opportunities it presents for participating nations. Commending China's strides under President Xi's leadership, especially the remarkable achievement of lifting 800 million people out of poverty a decade ahead of the United Nations' 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, he reiterated China's commitment to common prosperity and improving the lives of its citizens. Turning attention to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), Ambassador Zaidong showcased its early successes, citing $25.4 billion in direct investment and job creation for 236,000 individuals. Signifying its impact on infrastructure, he noted the completion of 510 kilometers of highways, 868 kilometers of national roads, and 8,020 megawatts of electricity projects. Anticipating further advancements, he highlighted upcoming projects, including the operationalization of the new international airport at Gwadar and the distribution of 10,000 solar panels in Balochistan. Expressing optimism about CPEC's transformative outcomes, particularly in addressing Pakistan's electricity shortages and enhancing local transportation through initiatives like the Orange Line in Lahore, Ambassador Zaidong remarked, "CPEC truly demonstrates China's dedication to delivering tangible benefits to local communities and fostering superior development in Pakistan." Proposing three key areas for future collaboration—consolidation, deepening existing projects, and continuous improvement—the ambassador stressed the importance of building upon successful initiatives like ML1 and KKH rebooting projects. Anticipating new collaborations, he announced a delegation from Xinjiang province aiming to enhance cooperation in agriculture, demonstrate agricultural zones, and propose counterpart collaboration in Special Economic Zones (SEZs). The ambassador expressed China's willingness to strengthen collaboration in the mining sector, reinforcing the commitment to bolstering bilateral ties and contributing to Pakistan's sustained development.
