Italy & Pakistan Stand Together for Uplifting Socio-Economic Situation of Marginalised Segments of Society: CEO PPAF

Islamabad - (Adnan Hameed) : The Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund (PPAF) commemorated the successful culmination of the Italian-funded "Programme for Poverty Reduction (PPR) through Rural Development in Balochistan, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, newly merged FATA districts, and neighboring districts" with a prestigious Dissemination Event. Implemented by PPAF in collaboration with 17 partner organizations, the program covered 38 union councils across 14 districts in Balochistan and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, marking a significant milestone in the collective efforts to combat poverty in Pakistan. Addressing the participants, Her Excellency Marilina Armellin, Ambassador of Italy to Pakistan, expressed gratitude to PPAF, consulting firm IZI Spa, and federal and provincial authorities for their unwavering dedication to the Programme for Poverty Reduction (PPR). She underscored the program's instrumental role in fostering meaningful partnerships and addressing the persistent nature of poverty in Pakistan. Ambassador Armellin highlighted the successful outcomes of the program, facilitated by a EUR 40 million soft loan from the Italian Government, emphasizing the value of the recent impact assessment report as a roadmap for future poverty reduction efforts. CEO of PPAF, Nadir Gul Barech, applauded the collaborative efforts of the Italian Government, federal and provincial departments, and partner organizations, stressing the program's significant contribution to poverty reduction in targeted areas. He emphasized PPAF's commitment to uplifting vulnerable regions through community empowerment and livelihood enhancement initiatives. The event witnessed the presence of dignitaries from federal and provincial ministries, CEOs of support programs, and notable guests, reaffirming the enduring partnership between Italy and Pakistan in advancing socio-economic development.
